
Jazmine, a Philadelphia native, was born and raised in the city. Pam her mom has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five Her father was appointed as the curator of the Strawberry Mansion Section. Her family moved later into this historical property. She was a graduate in 2005 from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was singing music major. Sullivan started singing in contralto with the choir for children, and then just a few years later, in the adult group. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was initially minimal "I performed solos at churches and a person wanted me to sign to an gospel label when I was eleven but I wasn't yet ready," she recalls. After that, McDonald's held a contest for children in large cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept The Grace God Gives" on it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. When she was 13 years old, she performed along with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan, at age 15 first got signed by Jive Records. The label recorded her the entire album but the album never came out. Sullivan was eventually dropped by the label. There was a close relationship with Missy Elliott she produced many of the tracks from her debut, like the viral single "Backstabbers" that was written and produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
